Spirulina. Composition, beneficial properties for hair and skin

Spirulina is an alga that has been on earth for over 500 million years. Spirulina is found in Central Africa in Lake Chad and in East Africa along the Great Rift Valley. For industrial needs, spirulina is grown, most often in piece ponds.

What's in spirulina?

Spirulina is a means of normalizing metabolic processes and replenishing the deficiency of essential vitamins and minerals. It lowers blood cholesterol, stabilizes weight and improves the body's resistance to disease. Spirulina is used as a prophylactic agent for anemia, atherosclerosis, kidney, liver, cardiovascular, oncological and infectious diseases.

Scientists say that spirulina contains about two thousand useful substances, the main ones are:

Phycocyanin - this substance is almost never found in nature, and in spirulina it is about 20%, it regulates the functions of stem cells, strengthens the immune system and also prevents the development of many diseases. The only substance known to science that stops and prevents the growth of cancer cells.

Iron - in spirulina it is 300% more than in a piece of meat and it is absorbed very well. Iron deficiency is the main cause of hair loss in women.

Protein - Dried spirulina contains about 60% protein, it contains all the essential amino acids that hair needs on a daily basis.

Folic acid is indispensable for healthy hair growth, nervous system, well-coordinated work of internal organs and for the normalization of hemoglobin.

Vitamin A - protects our body from free radicals, because it is a strong antioxidant, this vitamin is indispensable for hair health. Spirulina contains 25 times more of it than carrots.

Also, spirulina contains in sufficient quantities such substances as selenium, copper, silicon, chromium, cobalt, molybdenum, iodine, germanium, calcium, magnesium, boron, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, manganese, chlorine, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, E.

Spirulina contains a large amount of chlorophyll, which has a powerful effect on the body's immunity.

Spirulina contains the amino acid phenylolanine, which reduces appetite and leads to weight loss.

Contraindications to the use of spirulina

Spirulina is a natural product and there are no contraindications as such, but for some pathologies, spirulina should be taken with caution:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • drug intolerance;
  • thyroid problems;
  • heart failure;
  • peptic ulcer in the stage of exacerbation, bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • hepatic and renal failure;
  • nervous disorders.

Spirulina propertiesMy opinion. I bought spirulina not so much for the hair as for the spring strengthening of the body and saturating it with vitamins, microelements and other nutrients. After reading many reviews on the Internet, I decided to focus on spirulina. I have spirulina made in the Czech Republic, the recommended dosage of which is 1-3 tablets per day, I stopped at two tablets.

I have been drinking spirulina for almost a month, but not only spirulina, in the morning I drink iron and add vitamin C, and at lunchtime and in the evening - spirulina 20 minutes before meals. After taking spirulina, my appetite really dulls, I eat about a third less than my usual portion. During this month, she lost 3 kilograms, but this is also with classes in the gym (2 times a week), in addition, spirulina is recommended for those who are actively involved in sports, as an additive to the diet.

As for the skin, I did not notice any significant changes, although dry skin always appears in the spring, this time this problem went away somehow unnoticed.

Spirulina really raises immunity, during the spring period I never got sick, which is unusual for me.

It is too early to talk about hair, because the result on the hair will be noticeable in three to four months, due to the life cycle of the hair. Spring loss takes place within normal limits, the hair is a little dry in length (since it is dyed), but it still grows faster, but this is together with a course of nicotinic acid and darsonval. So I'm happy with the result, I will continue to accept it, and I also plan to use homemade masks with the addition of spirulina.

Hair masks with the addition of spirulina

Tablets: Spirulina

Mask number 1

  • 5-6 spirulina tablets;
  • olive oil;
  • a few drops of Dimexide.

Grind the spirulina into powder and dilute with olive oil, add Dimexide at the end. Apply the mask to the scalp, insulate and keep for 40-60 minutes. Then wash your hair as usual.

Mask No. 2

  • 5 spirulina tablets;
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg yolk.

We mix all the ingredients, the olive oil can be heated in a water bath. Apply the mask first to the scalp, and then distribute it along the length of the hair. Try to keep your hair free of foam, varnish and other styling products before applying the mask. The mask needs to be insulated and kept somewhere from 40 minutes to 1 hour, then I wash my head as usual.

Mask No. 3

  • 5-8 spirulina tablets;
  • 1 tablespoon of blue clay;
  • 1/2 tablespoon of water (boiled) or mineral water;
  • 1 yolk;
  • 3-5 drops of bay oil essential oil (rosemary, tea tree, pine, cinnamon).

The mask is done before washing your hair. Dilute the clay with water until the consistency of sour cream, add the rest of the ingredients. Apply the mask to the hair roots and insulate, for about 20-30 minutes. Then wash your hair as usual, but using a mask or balm for hair length, otherwise the hair will be coarse. It is enough to do this mask once a week.
